Homemade Oxiclean Recipe
Here is a very simple recipe for homemade oxiclean.
1 cup water
1/2 cup baking soda
1/2 cup hydrogen peroxide
For bad stains, soak laundry overnight but for normal cleaning you can just put the baking soda and peroxide right into the wash.
The best deal is usually a gallon of peroxide if your grocery or pharmacy sells it. For Baking soda, buy the 12lb bag in the pool section, it is usually under $10.00
Enjoy cleaning with safer chemicals!

Sabine says:
I was curious about the baking soda…are you sure that the recipe is not supposed to be Washing soda?! Washing soda is what I have found in most of the Oxi-clean recipes I have found.
Harlan says:
Sabine,
There are recipes that call for washing soda, and the ingredients in Oxi-clean are peroxide, and washing soda. However I chose to include baking soda instead because it is not as harsh. Washing soda is more alkaline, with a pH of 11, and Baking soda has a pH of 8, near neutral.
You can use washing soda for tougher stains as long as the clothes are not delicate.
Thanks for the question!
